What is toughened glass?
Toughened glass is produced by heating it to approximately 680–730°C, followed by a rapid, controlled cooling. As a result of this process, the glass becomes up to five times stronger than regular glass, retains its elasticity, and withstands both mechanical shocks and temperature fluctuations. In the event of breakage, it shatters into small pieces with blunt edges, reducing the risk of injury to nearly zero. The product is certified according to SR EN 12150.
The quality of tempered glass depends directly on the proper finishing of the edges before the glass enters the furnace. Edge defects—such as scratches and microcracks—can compromise the strength and breakage behavior of the final product.
Technical specifications
- Impact resistance 4–5 times greater than standard float glass
- Safe breakage behavior — small shards with no sharp edges
- Thermal resistance — withstands temperature variations of up to 200°C
-
Available thicknesses: 6–12 mm, including custom shapes
- CNC machining (drilling, cutting, grooving) — must be performed prior to safety treatment
Where is safety glass used?

Construction & Architecture
Façades, curtain walls, partitions, building entrances, interior and exterior doors. Large-format glass panels engineered to withstand wind loads and temperature fluctuations.

Insulating Glass Components
Used as a component in insulating glass units (double or triple glazing), as a single pane, or as part of laminated glass.

Safety & Design
Glass balustrades and balconies with point-fixed or linear support systems, shower enclosures, tabletops, commercial display windows, and glass furniture.

Roof Glazing & Skylights
Applications where impact safety and controlled breakage are essential.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order glass with holes or cutouts?
Yes. Any CNC machining—holes, cutouts, grooves, chamfers—is performed before tempering. After heat treatment, the glass can no longer be modified.
What is the maximum size you can temper?
The maximum size is: 3900 x 2400 mm.
Do you also produce non-standard shapes?
Yes. We produce semicircular, polygonal, and any other special-shaped pieces, with no minimum order quantity.
Can tempered glass be included in an insulated glass unit?
Yes. It can be integrated as a component pane in double or triple-pane insulated glass units, in combination with Low-E, solar control, or laminated glass.
