Laminated glass — manufacturer of safety glass for facades, insulated glass units, and railings
Laminated glass—also known as duplex glass or laminated panes—consists of two or more sheets of glass permanently bonded together by a layer of PVB (polyvinyl butyral) or EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) film through a controlled thermal process. The result is a homogeneous, laminated structure with superior performance compared to monolithic glass in terms of safety and sound insulation.
At TDC Glass Brașov, lamination is performed in a Hornos Industriales Pujol HLH industrial furnace—CE certified, with a thermal capacity of 94,600 Kcal/h and a maximum temperature of 150°C.
The sheets are pre-cleaned, the EVA film is inserted between the layers, and the assembly undergoes a controlled thermal cycle under vacuum conditions. The result is a structure free of inclusions or bubbles, with perfect adhesion between the layers.

Laminated Glass vs. Toughened Glass — What’s the Difference?
These two types of safety glass meet different requirements and are often used together:

Toughened glass (ESG/VSG)
is heat-treated for impact resistance — when broken, it shatters into small, harmless pieces.

Laminated glass
keeps the fragments adhered to the film in the event of breakage — the structure remains intact, with no risk of falling shards.

Thermo-laminated glass
combines both properties: the sheets are first tempered, then laminated — the recommended solution for facades and balustrades.
Why choose laminated glass with EVA layer?
The main advantage of laminated glass is its impact resistance: if broken, the fragments remain adhered to the interlayer, eliminating the risk of injury. This qualifies it as safety glass and burglar-resistant glass, making its use mandatory in applications regulated by European standards.
Compared to PVB, EVA film offers:
- Superior adhesion between glass layers
- Increased moisture resistance — no delamination over time
- UV filtration of up to 99%
- Long-term color stability, with no yellowing
Main applications of laminated glass

Double-pane window with laminated glass
Laminated glass is frequently used as a component in double-pane windows. This combination provides safety, superior sound insulation, and high energy efficiency. TDC Glass’s complete production line for insulated glass units allows for the integration of laminated glass into triple-pane units with laminated glass and into formats with complex geometries.

Curtain walls, facades, and canopies
Laminated safety glass meets fall safety requirements for facade systems. The sizes processed at TDC Glass range up to 2,450×3,900 mm—sufficient for large-scale commercial and residential architectural projects, including laminated glass canopies.

Railings, Stairs, and Partitions
Glass railings and office partitions require the use of laminated and safety glass. The Denver Advance Plus CNC machining center produces shaped, drilled, and milled parts made of laminated glass. For additional protection on the ground floor, laminated burglar-resistant glass is the recommended solution.
Thicknesses, configurations, and cutting accuracy
TDC Glass processes laminated glass 3.3.1, 3.3.2, 4.4.1, 4.4.2, 5.5.1, 5.5.2, 6.6.1, 6.6.2, and other configurations, with a precision of ±0.5 mm on the Bottero 520 LAMe automatic machine—equipped with dual infrared separation. Custom laminated glass cutting covers both standard formats and special shapes.
